At some point … oh, around 2004 … probably began hearing rumors about "Web 2.0 … The next generation Internet. The term was coined by O'Reilly Media. And although everyone asked gives a different definition of how Web 2.0 should look and feel, perhaps the best definition can be found in the company's own archives, here: Original O'Reilly's Web 2.0 Description.
O'Reilly and continues to call Web 2.0 in a "transformative force". But are still felt? You can only have.
Definition O'Reilly's early Web 2.0 Web 1.0 is distinct from (the old "cloud") that:
- Private content? Management systems would be Wikis editable replaced by the public.
- Personal websites would lead to communal dynamics blogs.
- Editorial take a backseat to participation.
- Web content will become more configurable.
- The new services would be easier for people connected interactively.
- Financial speculation in domain names (URLs to block good) be less likely to search? Engine Optimization (to help people find the sites and the content regardless of its URL).
Even companies advertise their products and services are "Web 2.0? Done", subtly implying that Web 2.0 was a kind of formal specification, which was not. Some even it was speculated that Web 2.0 Internet would become a virtual 3D world like Second Life (SL). And the fact that IBM and Microsoft were big supporters of SL does not blow some wind in the sail.
In fact, the O'Reilly Web? 2.0 Description materialized around us, unnoticed by most than it was. The bullets above sound mighty familiar, right? Wikis and blogs are everywhere. We are increasingly friend and track each from each other on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. And through them, our small, personal "e? People" are merging into global mesh.
Most of us in the mail? World Learning to live and work online, such as tropical fish in an aquarium. And the water in which we have been throughout the has recovered swimming Web 2.0, even the colors as you breathe in
And now comes "Web 3.0"
Many people are now describing the "next" Internet Web 3.0 as an assistant to "personal" that:
- Learn from our habits and interests by observing the above activities, and automatically focuses the information given to us. (Can you say cookies?)
- Maintains web? Navigation based on personal stories that can access any site for customizing what people see.
- Allows different sites and services that are combined (such as Google Maps, MapQuest, and the site? Hit Counters are added to many Web sites today).
- Uses the Internet itself as an operating system (a? the "cloud" applications that run directly through the web, rather than being installed on our PC). This also is already happening.
- Replaces key word searches and sifting intelligent content delivery, based on the interpretation of the context of the conversation – Written requests. For example, you will be able to type "Where is the closest store that still has a pocket copy of the last Dan Brown's book … for under $ 10? "… And to get a succinct answer. (By" Web 4.0 ", some say, this will yield the full artificially? Intelligent interfaces.)
And once again, Second Life is celebrated as a possible model for the appearance of this "Internet of the next" (also called "Web 3D"). I will not hold my breath on that though! If I go to IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon's websites (all the time? Partners SL time), its web interface are still well-2D. I can not click on amazon.com and I'm walking through a virtual store 3D able to browse the shelves, collecting books, searching their pages, shopping at a virtual control? Station, and enter payment and shipping data from insurance virtual identification card. Not today, anyway.
However, several companies are working on testing 3D browsers. For more information about that, just Google phrases like "3D browser", "Google 3D browser," Google SketchUp " 3D Browser Firefox "and" AT & T 3D Browser ". From what I've seen, everyone seems to 2D interfaces with 3D layers … not as skillfully truly immersive, 3D information environments.
Some have even argued that Web 3.0 may have to execute in its own separate network and use their own protocols again … what which implies that it will be easier to build the Internet's next to zero. I personally know how hard it is to release a new version only of a software product. I know how hard it is to maintain forward compatibility with future plans and compatible with existing users. So do not for one minute think that a new Web 3.0 network will one day "replace" Internet our family.
More likely, the Web 3.0 will creep up on us slowly … at night … Web 2.0 and it did (and still does).
